I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar……..Opps NO. I was working as a Special Needs Co-Ordinator and my husband, Doug as a Highway Engineer. After holidaying in France and seeing how others did it, we decided in 2002 to take the plunge and move to France.
A really, really cheap RyanAir flight was responsible for what was to come. I think it was £1 return?
By 2004 we had found La Bourjonnerie. A property with two houses, land and a range of barns. A second house which was to become La Maison de Maître, Loire Gite after some renovation.
By October 2004 and after many hiccups we were finally installed. Two horses, two cats and one dog! Due to the hiccups all arriving at different times.
By mid 2005 La Maison de Maître, Loire Gite was ready to rent out. My cousins came and tested the gite out for us.

Holiday rentals at that time were a very different story. There was little internet if any at that time and no one requested it! There weren’t so many gîtes in the area for rent either!

Today, we have a large 5 bedroom gite sleeping 8. A heated private pool, large garden, WIFI and we welcome your four-legged friends.
If you are looking for some privacy, some peace and quiet, a house for a family reunion or perhaps a big birthday or special wedding anniversary, somewhere to chill out with some like-minded friends then La Maison de Maitre, Loire Gite is for you.

We live in a Longere, 87 steps from kitchen to kitchen but not overlooking the gite. Our daughter Laura has established her own equestrian business whilst actively taking part in showjumping competitions with her team of horses during the summer season. She is also establishing a pony  breeding program. Our first foal was born 4 May 2022.   We have also a lovely colt pony who we took to his first show this Summer 2022

With all our horses, Seven cats  2 dogs and 3 chickens there is never a dull moment at La Bourjonnerie.

We are situated near Chatillon sur Indre (36), only 25 mins from The Medieval Market Town of Loches (37), just 35 mins from Zoo Beauval (the nº1 zoo in France). We are no more than 50 minutes from the vineyards and châteaux of the Loire as well as many other attractions. Please see our digital guide for more information.

When you book directly through our website you will receive the best price. No added extras no hidden costs. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Over the years we have welcomed many guests from all over the world.

We would love to welcome you and your family and friends in 2023.

Additional information

The gite is set in a rural setting.  Hence a car is necessary.

In the summer we are surrounded by the growing crops. We accept up to two dogs free of charge but we do ask that you pick up after them and do not allow them upstairs, on the furniture or in the pool area. As you can see from the photos the garden from the gite is enclosed. Perfect for younger children and your four legged companion.

There are many local routes to take a stroll ranging from 30 mins to 2 hours. All off road and you will see much of our local wildlife. Walk or cycle you chose.

There are also many places to fish. Local Maires will sell you a fishing permit either by the day or the week.
